This week in Mrs.Cooper's Class ...

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend and enjoying all of this snow!

Coming up this week ...

Monday -
Tuesday - Ski Trip Canceled
Wednesday -
Thursday - Assessment Portfolios going home
Friday - PD Day No School

This week in Math we will be working on addition and subtraction problems. We will be working on solving problems using a variety of mental math strategies, using estimation to assist in solving addition and subtraction problems and to help judge the reasonableness of a solution. Math homework this week will be working with word problems and figuring out which operation is appropriate to use when solving the problem  and which strategies. Students have been working on using open number lines to assist in solving addition and subtraction word problems in class.

This week in Language we will be continuing to work on point of view. Students will be beginning to write narratives using the editing process. We will then be continuing on to rewrite our narratives in the upcoming weeks from a different characters point of view.

This week in Religion we will be continuing to look at what it means to make a moral decision. Students in grade five will also continue to share their prayers on the morning announcements with the school.

Students will be receiving their assessment portfolios on Thursday. Please review the feedback that is written on the assignments within the folders and send them back with your child next week.

I hope everyone has a great week!
Mrs.Cooper
