Book Clubs

Hello!

I am excited to announce that today we launched our grade 5 book clubs! 

Who? - All grade 5 students  

What? - Book Clubs! Students completed a google form earlier in the week to vote on which texts were most interesting to them. Based on this survey, I have strategically split the students in both morning and afternoon groups into book club groups. 

Where? - In our classroom. 

When? - Every Thursday for the next 4 weeks.

Why? - To help student collaborate together while digging deep into a text that they will be reading together. Students have gone through with their group members to separate the book into 4 sections. Each week students will be responsible to read their assigned chapters and to complete ONE group job. 

How? - Together as a group, the students will meet each Thursday to share the job they completed and to discuss the chapters that they were assigned to read. 

** Students have each been given a copy of their groups book. They have also been given a duotang which contains the information about each job. Each week, students will choose ONE job out of a bag that they will need to complete for that week. ** 

IMPORTANT - Students are asked to ONLY read the assigned chapters for that week and NOT TO READ AHEAD! Reading ahead will ruin the discussion for the rest of the group.
